History of Hopkins

A community rooted in its history

The settlement of Hopkins began in the early 1850s, before Minnesota was even a state. It was first incorporated as the Village of West Minneapolis in 1893 and wasn't called Hopkins until 1928. At one point, Hopkins had the biggest population in the West Metro. For more information, read a detailed account of the history of Hopkins.
